Regina Phillips Tabon is a native New Yorker who has a very diverse educational and professional background. Better known as Gina, she holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from New York University and a Masters in Public Health with a concentration in Community Health Education and Administration from Hunter College of The City University of New York. She received her Juris Doctorate from CUNY School of Law at Queens College and is licensed to practice law in New York State.
Gina began her professional career teaching math and science workshops in the Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP) at NYU. Since that time she has held numerous top level administrative positions in various corporate and not-for-profit organizations, which included her tenure as the Director of Administration at the Addiction Research and Treatment Corporation; Director of Corporate Affairs and Legal Advisor for a major public relations and marketing firm; and Manager of the Grants Department at Staten Island University Hospital. Gina also had the distinct honor of serving as the Program Manager / In-House Counsel for the National Football League’s Medical Advisor. Several years ago she started rypEsquire, a legal consulting firm specializing in family law, business development and organizational services for community-based non-profits.
Outside of her professional career, Gina commits her time to community service activities, serving as a board member, advisor and mentor. In addition to her role on the board of directors for Love Images Ministries, she also serves on the board of Sisters4Sisters, Inc. in the capacity of legal counsel and mentor. And, prior to moving to Arizona she spent over five years as a member of the Addiction Research and Treatment Corporation’s Institutional Review Board for Human Research Protection.
Although she is committed to her professional career and loves community service, Gina is most passionate about her ministry work. Raised in the Pentecostal church by a mother who is an ordained minister and a father who serves on the deacon board, she was exposed to a lifestyle that cultivated in her an unselfish devotion to spreading God’s love by supporting and encouraging others. Her most notable involvement in ministry includes being a mentor and coordinator in a Christian-based rites of passage program for adolescent girls; an active participant in the Allen AME Lawyers’ Guild ministry; and an advisor for the Arise and Walk Ministries Foundation. Gina has also been fortunate to serve as a supervising chairperson for The Greater Allen Cathedral AME Church Women’s Ministry under the leadership of The Rev. Dr. Elaine M. Flake. Her call to ministry is inspired by Proverbs 31:8-9 (NIV): Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.
Gina currently resides in Phoenix, AZ with her husband, Gardner C. Tabon, a rail safety engineer. They are members of Desert Life Church in Scottsdale.
